What's New?

September 19 Changed Ybarracam slightly to get rid of annoying night time black screen. Now Ybarracam updates every 15 seconds as normal, but only during the hours of 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM Central Time. After the last picture is taken, it stays until morning. I figure it's more entertaining to see a slightly old picture than to see a black screen. No, I haven't forgotten about Thibodeaux's new camera. I've just been really busy.

September 16 It's Devin's birthday! Birdcam continues to get visitors from around the world. Hello to everyone. I have added an About page to explain the birdcam and also to feature any awards or webring invitations the birds have received.

September 15 Congratulations to my two little stars. They received Earthcam's Top Ten Award and their site got over one hundred hits today.

September 14 Ybarra and Thibodeaux are world famous! Their little piece of the internet has received visitors from Scotland, Spain, the Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, and even Japan. Thanks to everyone who has dropped by for a visit. Don't worry, Thibodeaux's getting a new camera soon.

September 10 Worked on formatting so that things looked a little better. You may notice the buttons on the left side of the screen are more uniform now.

September 9 Big changes. The live feed concept was abandoned in favor of a refresh every 15 seconds. This allows a resolution of 640x480 and still conserves bandwidth. Consequently, the layout of the website was also changed.

September 6 Got a new bird light for Ybarra's cage.  Also, changed up website to incorporate more pages.

September 3 Moved server to accommodate second birdcam, the Thibodeaux Cam.

August 31 Increased live image resolution to 320x240. This should not visibly affect refresh speed.

August 30 Directed birdcam at Thibodeaux for the first time. This also resolved a lingering light issue, as Thibodeaux's cage is better lit from the window. Added more toys to Thibodeaux's cage because web people told me his cage was bare. Server rebuild meant birdcam was offline for several hours. Added logging to the website to see who is looking at my birds and to gather demographics. Added caption to reflect birdcam's location and local time.

August 28 Added a full-spectrum bulb to illuminate the dark part of Ybarra's cage. This turned out to be impractical because it caused more discomfort to Ybarra that originally anticipated. A nondirectional full-spectrum light was ordered.

August 27 Finally got birdcam up and running with Webcam32. At this point, we decided to go with a live format vs. picture updated per minute.

August 25 Ordered two new cameras for birdcam.com--one color camera and one b&w low-light (.5 lux) camera. Began searching for appropriate image capture software
